Every once in a while, it’s nice to get out and just browse at your favorite stores and try some new things on. The other day I went to the mall and decided to just walk around until a mannequin struck my fancy and lured me into the store. Surprisingly, a lot of the stores I normally get pulled into weren’t cutting it…until I got to Zara. I haven’t had a piece from Zara in a long time, but I know that I’ve always loved their Spring line so I went in. What a great choice!
This year, the opening line for Spring at Zara had three distinct vibes: athleisure, detailed dressy, and colors/patterns. Generally, Zara has always been good for me in these categories already, it’s always been a bit one note for me. Not this year! Here’s what Zara did very well for my first Spring outing and what to look for in your own looks:
- Athleisure: When it comes to athleisure look, it seems that there is a big pickup in full matching outfits. While I don’t normally go for these, I was super excited about this floral jogger outfit, and I don’t know why. It just spoke to me. Additionally, keep in mind that each piece can be worn separately, so it’s very versatile. Remember when you’re looking for athleisure items to keep the LEISURE part in mind. These can’t really be dressed up.
- Detailed Dressy: For this, it’s all about patterns and smaller details. Look for metal buttons, collar change-ups, and checks/stripes that go beyond your comfort zone. My favorite two pieces (I bought the denim, featured here) were this slim short denim with white stripe and this blue checked blazer. Perfect for a city interview, or just looking great at the office. Pair it with a Spring trench and you’re good to go!
- Colors and Patterns: This has always been my absolute favorite and they really hit some good pieces this time around! For me, sleeve and embroidery details on a denim jacket are by far some of my favorite things. I wasn’t in the market for a new jacket on this outing, but I have kept them in mind for sure. However, this bright colored striped sweatshirt went in my shopping bag instantly. I can’t get enough and I can’t wait to show it offer. Keep in mind when going for color to mute the rest of your outfit so you’re not TOO over the top (unless it’s a full matching set). Make your colorful piece the star of the show!
Share some of your pieces you’re trying on here and let me know what you think of my choices!
