When I pack for vacation, I like to think of myself as someone that plans out well and only takes what he needs. Is a phrase I’ve never uttered in my life! Last week I took an 8 day vacation to Disney World! It was absolutely amazing and a much needed break from the world! Our resort was the Port Orleans French Quarter, and I cannot say enough about how amazing it was. It was gorgeous, small, quiet, and really felt like a true New Orleans vacation. Unfortunately, getting there was rough. Through powers outside of our control, we went from a 6 hour nonstop flight from San Francisco to Orlando arriving at around 4pm, to 3 separate flights through Los Angeles and Atlanta, arriving to our hotel at about 1am (15 hours total travel time). That part was a nightmare! But…back to the fashion.

When packing this time around, I really wanted to bring out the Spring and Summer looks for the trip, and blend the need for fashion with the need for comfortable vacation wear. My suggestion for travel attire in a tropical area? Layers! I know that sounds crazy, but trust me. When I say layers, I don’t mean layers for warmth, I mean layers for look! It is important to have yourself set up for looking good, and looking appropriate no matter where you’re headed off to, but don’t forget there is always the potential for a freak storm, or a heat wave, or humidity.

First critical element while packing…skin care. I have to admit, I am not a HUGE skin care person, but I’ve been beginning to pay a little more attention recently after reading some others’ blogs on their routines and results. Below, you can see my kit I received from Gillette through the recommendation of Anthony Urbano! I was able to use this kit to decide exactly what was going to keep my face feeling fresh in the crazy humidity of Florida! Remember to always pack for the weather your expecting to be in!

Moving onto apparel…all I really have to say here is BE BOLD! If you’re going to try to stand out while on vacation, you’re going to have to outdo all of the florescent and highlighter yellow, and unfortunate choices that everyone else around you has made. Be just as bold, but much more put together. For me, my bold statements came mostly from pattern mixing. I got a little obsessed with Express Men‘s bird print short sleeve shirts before I left and brought as many as I could as a perfect throw on layer. My other obsession this trip were patterned tees and tanks to layer under as my second bold print. For these, I pillaged the Express, Forever 21, and H&M sites for anything that POPPED!

Finally…accessories!!! There are SO many good accessories to take on your tropical, but for me my number one necessity are a couple pairs of sunglasses that I can pair with a ton of my outfits! For this trip, my Ray-Ban and Blank & Blue by Alexander Kenton shades were perfect for every outfit. I would also recommend Blank & Blue for a ton of additional beach accessories that I didn’t pack this time around, but will come with me to the beach this summer for sure!
